Jimmy Robert Teasley passed away on July 9, 2014 following a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Elbert County, Jimmy was born on January 24, 1942 the son of Thomas Linton Teasley and Ila Ayers Teasley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Wilburn Ayers Teasley, Paul Brown Teasley and Merrell Johnson Teasley. He is survived by his son Christopher Robert (Abby), his wife, Susan, brothers, Thomas Harlon Teasley of Dewy Rose, Georgia, Morris C. Teasley (Jan) of Buford, Georgia and his sister, Eleazer T. Miley (Harry) of Tallahassee, Florida along with many nieces and nephews. After attending school in Dewy Rose and Bowman, Georgia, Jimmy went on to serve as a caregiver for his mother, Ila Teasley, until her death in 1994. The family was grateful for the care and companionship he gave their mother for nearly thirty years, yet Jimmy thought of it as a privilege and described this time as a “gift of life” for himself. Jimmy was a longtime employee of a granite company owned by the Carrington family, working first as a granite finisher, later in delivering granite markers to dealers throughout the Southeast and finally devoting his own time to serve as a trusted, caring friend to company owner Mrs. Janet Carrington as her health declined she needed assistance in obtaining medical services and accomplishing essential errands. In Jimmy’s early years, he and his brother, Paul, formed a bluegrass band and they played in weekly, local radio shows featuring gospel and bluegrass music. Music continued to play an important part in Jimmy’s life as an occasion for the gathering of friends and family. Known for a quiet, gentle teasing sense of humor, a love of animals and all living things, and a truly kind, compassionate heart, Jimmy will be missed but forever remembered by his family and a wide circle of friends. He was especiallytouched by the many ways in which others reached out to provide support and care during his illness and would wish to thank each and every friend and family member who extended a hand.
