Mr. James Ernest “Jimmy” Williams, 81, of 1837 Morning Glory Drive, Elberton, died on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at his home. He was born on May 31, 1933, in Dekalb County, Georgia and was the son of the late Ernest Andrew Williams and Ila “Midge” Veal Williams. Mr. Williams was retired from the granite industry where he founded and operated Quick Saw Granite Company until the late 1990’s. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men’s Club. He loved hunting, fishing, football, stock-car racing, and visiting at the feed store with all of his old buddies. Mr. Williams took his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on many outdoor trips, creating memories for all enjoying his passion for life. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Lovin Williams; two sons: Gary Williams and wife Melanie “Missy”, and Mitch Williams and wife Rhonda; brother, Glen Williams; three grandchildren: Kristopher Williams and wife Lindsey, Michael Williams and Katie Floyd, and Kyle Williams and Katelin Fields; three great-grandchildren: Kadan Floyd, Logan Williams, and Hayden Williams; along with several other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lydia Carol Williams and a daughter, Loretta Williams. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20 at 2:00p.m. in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Sharon Coley, Bruce Lovin, and Diane Lovin officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 12:00p.m. until time for the service on Tuesday afternoon. Pallbearers will be Bobby McAllister, Wayne Lovin, Neil James, Ricky Johnson, George Lutz, Johnny Lutz, Keith Lutz, Kip Hufstetler, and Barry Fleming. Flowers are optional.
