Mrs. Joan Walker Rogers, 87, of Old Middleton Road, Elberton, wife of the late Clifford Walter Rogers, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Cookeville, TN on July 4, 1929, daughter of the late Lee Walker and the late Lou Annie Riddle Walker. She was a retired secretary having worked for the US Army Corp of Engineers. She was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church of Elberton and the church’s Mary Freeman Sunday School Class. She was a Pink Lady at Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her sons: Tim and Cindy Cofer Rogers of Elberton and Phillip Rogers of Corvallis, OR; three grandchildren: Michael Rogers, Mary Rogers, and Aaron Rogers; two great-grandchildren: Hayden Rogers and Hannah Rogers; and two step grandchildren: George Bond, Jr. and Michelle Bond.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kim Rogers; and one granddaughter, Phadera Rogers Brown.
The family will hold a private memorial service in summer 2017.
