Mr. Joe Norris Brady, 83, of Cromer Road, Elberton, husband of the late Charlotte Louise Brady for 62 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home, with his girls by his side.
Mr. Brady was born in Elberton on April 17, 1941, son of the late Benjamin Bryant Brady and Olivia Evett Partain Brady. He was a 1959 graduate of Elbert County High School and was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Affectionately known as “Poppa Joe”, he retired from the granite industry after working many years and was also a skilled carpenter. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. He enjoyed spending time at his hunting land, better known as "camp" to all his family and friends. Poppa Joe was an avid NASCAR fan, with Dale Earnhardt as his favorite driver, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs.
Surviving are his daughters: Lisa Ayers and Greg Mann of Elberton, Tina and Keith Hill of Lavonia, and Sherry and Mark Bradford of Elberton; brother, Larry Brady of Elberton; grandchildren: Dustin and Suzanne Ayers, Tyler Ayers, Luc Ayers, Zach and Rachel Hill, Hannah and Justin Brown, Allen and Marlee Bradford, and Mattox Bradford and Blakeley Wright; great-grandchildren: Rayleigh, Olivia, Harper, Charlotte, Helen, Caden, Way, Charli, Rhode, Crew, as well as one on the way; special family friend and caretaker, Martha Huff; his faithful cat, Snowball; and a host of nieces and nephews.Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Lewis Brady and Jimmy Brady.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 22, at 1:00p.m. at Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. The family is at the residence, 1569 Cromer Road, Elberton, where they will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00-4:00p.m. after the service.
