Joe Edward Ballew

Joe Edward Ballew, 65, of 2285 Bellew Drive, Bowman, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Ballew was born in Madison County, January 3, 1947, to the late Mary Elizabeth "Pitzie" Ballew Herring. He was retired from Hardcash Granite Company and was a member of Price Chapel Church of God. Left to cherish his memories are his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Sherry Ballew of Bowman; daughter, Teresa Ballew of Elberton; brothers, Donnie Herring of Comer and Ricky Herring of Danielsville; sisters, Marcie Smith of Hull and Clara Charpin of Ila; four grandchildren, Derek Coleman, Sr., Melissa Ballew, Abby Ballew, and Austin Ballew; and four great-grandchildren, Harmony Huff, Derek Coleman, Jr., Devin Coleman, and Serenity Crew. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Ballew. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2PM Saturday, July 14, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Revs. Johnny Stowe and Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with James Bryant, Don Crowe, Ronald Bellew, William Smith, Terry Smith, Jr., and Wayne Ednis serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
