Joe Tom McMullan

Mr. Joe T. McMullan, age 84 of Elberton, died February 4, 2009. Mr. McMullan was born in Elbert County to the late Tom W. McMullan and Corine Crawford McMullan. He was a lifelong resident of Rock Branch Community and a lifelong member of Rock Branch Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for 20 years.He was the Service Manager at Oldsmobile-Cadillac Dealership for 26 years.He taught At Elbert County High School in the Transportation Lab for 18 years and served on Elbert county Board of Education for 8 years.He also served in the U. S. Army in World War II, Korea and the Philippines. and was as member of Sons of the American Revolution. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Azalee McMullan, and his daughter Ellen (her husband, Kenneth) Dye, all of Elberton. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 6th at Hicks Funeral Home Chapel, at 3:00 p.m.Reverend Ken Wright, Rev. Ed Sayer, and Rev. Wes Privett are officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.At other times the family will at the residence.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. McMullan’s name to Rock Branch Baptist Church Family Life Center. Hicks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Joe T. McMullan.
