Mr. Joe T. Winn, 75, of 1029 Ruckersville Road, Elberton, husband of 53 years to Barbara Black Winn, finished his course in faith on Friday, December 7, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. Winn was born in Elbert County, June 22, 1937, to the late Noah J. and Aulena Adams Winn. He was employed in the granite industry as a top polisher at Harmony Blue Granite Company and was a dedicated and devoted employee of Berry Funeral Home since its inception in 1986. Joe was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church. Although he had no children of his own, "Uncle Joe" loved each of his nieces and nephews dearly. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Barbara Black Winn; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Anne and Denver Worley, Allen Black, Jamie "Blue" and Mary Ann Black, Dwight Black, all of Elberton and Stewart and Ann Black of Jackson. Several special nieces and nephews also survive. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Winn Brown Sanders; and brothers-in-law, Herman Brown and Bill Sanders. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, December 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home officiated by the Revs. Frank Owens and Eddie Adams. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with nephews: Max Black, Rob Black, Lee Black, William Black, Steve Black, Jason Webb, Brad Seagraves, Chuck Black, Barry Black, Bobby Thomas, and Stew Black honored as pallbearers. Past and present employees of Berry Funeral Home and their spouses are asked to serve as honorary escort. The Winn family is at the residence, 1029 Ruckersville Road, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6-8PM Monday evening. At Joe's request, please omit flowers.
