Joe Young

Mr. Joseph Jackson "Jody" Young, 85, of Elberton, husband of Joyce Franklin Young, entered into rest on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Pruitt Health at Spring Valley. Mr. Young was born in Stephens County on May 31, 1930, to the late General George Washington Young and Pearlie Mae Fowler Young. He attended Elberton Church of God and was a retired polisher in the granite industry. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: David and Debbie Young of Hartwell, Teresa and Bruce Thornton of Stockbridge, and Dennis and Kay Young of Elberton; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, July 27, at 7:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Martin officiating. Private interment will be Tuesday morning in Elmhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Thornton, Paul Young, Blake Young, Joseph Hilliard, and Ron Fortson. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00p.m. until the service hour Monday evening.
