Joel Alton Dove

Mr. Joel Alton Dove, 81, of Robinwood Lane, Elberton, GA husband of 20 years to Jo Anne Hopkins Dove passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Dove was born May 23, 1936 in Hart County, GA to Alvin Dove and Mamie Stowe Dove. He was a member of Dewy Rose Baptist Church and was a retired contractor.

Survivors include his wife: Jo Anne Hopkins Dove of Elberton, GA; children and their spouses: Kathy & Joel Carey of Dewy Rose, GA; Jowina Dove of Royston, GA; Candice and Kevin Brown; Kelly and Michael Patten all of Elberton, GA; siblings: Sue Holcombe of Royston, GA; Susie Carnes of Anderson, SC; Jackie Driver of Dewy Rose, GA, Charles Dove of Lavonia, GA; grandchildren: Leanne and Jay Phelps, Joshua and Jenny Woody, Nathan Patten, Leyton Brown and Lauren Brown; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Odell Dove.

Services to celebrate his life will be held 2PM, Wednesday, June 7 at Dewy Rose Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Martin and Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2PM just prior to the service at Dewy Rose Baptist Church.
