John Alexander "Johnny" Herndon

Mr. John Alexander “Johnny” Herndon, 73, of E. Church Street, Elberton, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mr. Herndon was born in Elberton on October 9, 1947, son of Eugenia Mauldin Herndon and the late Fred Herndon. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 25 years of service and was a member of Celebration Outreach Center. Johnny enjoyed fishing, working with R/C Airplanes, and was a member of Academy of Model Aeronautics.

In addition to his mother of Elberton, he is survived by his sister-in-law and caregiver, Lynn Seymour Herndon of Bowman; nephew, Nathan Herndon, his wife Hannah, and their children Noah and Lydia; niece, Anna Terrell, her husband Jason, and their children Marti Love and Jace; and niece, Brooke Campos, her husband Kevin, and their son Connor.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Herndon; and an infant brother, Kenneth Herndon.

Funeral services celebrating Johnny’s life will be held on Sunday, October 3, at 2 o’clock at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will greet friends immediately following the service.
