John Robert Guest

Mr. John Robert Guest, 84, of Elberton, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Nancy Hart Nursing Center, surrounded by family members. A native of Tignall, Georgia, Mr. Guest was the son of the late R.E. Guest and the late Elna Ruff Guest.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Hagerman Guest.Mr. Guest was a member of Fortsonia Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of service. He spent most of his Naval career as an Interior Communication Electrician and later was a recruiter.After retirement, Mr. Guest became a skilled craftsman in the art of knifeworks as he operated Guest Custom Knives.This craftsmanship is being carried on today through the work of his son, Kent. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Christie Guest, of Moore, South Carolina, Doug and Donna Guest, of Toccoa, Georgia and Kent and Christy Guest, of Elberton; one daughter, Katrina Ball, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama; Grandchildren, Samantha Guest, Vanessa Ferguson, Sabrina Humphries, Charlie Guest, Brandon Reed, Daniel Ball, Austin Ball, Christopher Guest, Clay Guest and Heather Lidh; great-grandchildren, Abigail Lidh, Benjamin Guest, Jackson Guest and Hudson Guest; two sisters, Louise Denard (Darden), of Tignall and Carolyn Cartledge (Lyndel), of Seneca, SC. A Graveside Memorial Service with Military Honors was held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 11:00a.m. in Fortsonia Community Cemetery with Rev. Al Butler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Fortsonia Baptist Church Missions, 2616 Washington Hwy. Elberton, GA 30635. Arrangements for Mr. John Robert Guest were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
