Mr. John Henry Scarborough, 89, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Nancy Hart Nursing Home. Mr. Scarborough was born October 23, 1921 to the late William Thomas and Fannie Mills Scarborough.He was the husband of the late Mary Frances Moon.Mr. Scarborough was a charter member of Forest Hills Assembly of God Church and served as a board member there for 40 years as well as serving as the treasurer for 28 years.He was retired as a cattle farmer and also retired from the granite industry. Mr. Scarborough was a former employee of Hicks Funeral Home where he worked for a number of years. Mr. Scarborough is survived by three sons and their wives: John Tom and Peggy Scarborough, George Earl and Jean Scarborough, and Kenneth J. and Phyllis Scarborough.He is also survived by two daughters and a son-in-law,Patsy Scarborough,and Mary Ann and Jerry Beggs. Mr. Scarborough leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren,and 5 great-great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Mr. Scarborough’s life will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home.Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, May 5, 2011 at Hicks Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00 p.m.Interment will be at Elmhurst Cemetery.
