John Wayne Stone

Mr. John Wayne Stone, 64, of S. Thomas Street, Elberton, husband of 4 years to Phyllis Kay Stone, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, in Elbert County as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Stone was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on October 4, 1954, son of the late Franklin Lee Stone and Katharine Jeanette Smith . He worked in the construction industry with his dear friend, the late Mike Herndon, for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Melissa Stone; son-in-law, John Stienhauer; grandson, Jaxon Stienhauer; brother, Frank Stone; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Stone.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William Patrick Stone.

Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 5, at 11 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home.

The family is at the residence and will greet friends immediately following the service.

Contributions may be made in his memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
