Mr. Johnny Jack Coleman, 85, of the Fortsonia community passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at his home. Mr. Coleman was born in Tennessee to the late John William and Lois Howard Coleman.He was the husband of Jane Bell Coleman, with whom he had celebrated over 50 years of marriage.Mr. Coleman served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant with over 21 years of service.He later went on to be the co-owner and operator of Martin Funeral Home in Elberton.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper, Georgia. John enjoyed fishing, as well as playing golf, and was quite the handyman as the need arose.He also enjoyed many years of “Randallin”… a phrase coined by one of his granddaughters as he often went “rambling” with a dear friend, Randall. In addition to his wife, Jane Bell Coleman, Mr. Coleman is survived by his daughter, Kelley Coleman Moon and her husband, Shane; and three granddaughters: Kinsley, Chloe, and Claire Moon.He is also survived by a brother, Carl “Doc” Coleman, and a special friend, Mike Thompson.Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers. A Graveside Memorial Service was held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. in the Fortsonia Community Cemetery, with Rev. Al Butler officiating. Flowers were graciously accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements for Mr. Johnny Jack Coleman were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
