Joseph Henry Rosser

Joseph Rosser Mr. Joseph Henry Rosser, 97, of Elberton, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at home. A native of Elberton, Joe, as he was known, was the son of the late William Anthony and Florence Ella Fleming Rosser.He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Frances Tucker Rosser, with whom he had celebrated over 54 years of marriage when she passed away in 2011.Joe was a retired stone profiler in the granite industry, having retired from Liberty Granite.He was a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church and a member of the Elberton Masonic Lodge. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Tim Mercer, and Barbara Shockley, all of Elberton; two granddaughters, Andrea Mercer Gibbs and Krista Shockley and one great grandchild, Nora Gibbs; and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Rosser was held Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11:00am in Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Kellum officiating.Interment with Masonic Rites followed in the church cemetery.Shane Bennett, Chris Smith, Nathan Hesemann, Matt Gibbs, Jamie Burdette, Andy Barrett, Anthony Barrett and Jason Moon served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. A time of visitation was held at the church on Tuesday, beginning at 10:00am until service time. Flowers were graciously accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Scottish Rite Hospital. Arrangements were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
