Josephine Cascio Faust, 93, of Lexington, Georgia passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022.
She was born in Rockford, Illinois to Stephen and Anna Maria Cascio. Josephine was a proud first generation Italian-American, both of her parents having immigrated to the United States from Sicily. When she was about 4 years old, her father moved the family to Sacramento, California where she grew up. She is predeceased by her parents and all seven of her siblings.
Josephine married James Alvin Faust in 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas. Jo had served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy, and they met in College Station, Texas while they were both stationed there. Soon after marriage, they moved back to his hometown of Lexington, Georgia where she lived the rest of her life, being a homemaker and rearing five children. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she used her gift for arranging flowers for the altar every Sunday. A friend to all, she cared deeply about her church family and those in her community. She loved having her whole family every Sunday for Sunday dinner, and was renowned for her meatballs and spaghetti.
Jo is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Alvin “Jimmy” Faust; five children: Kathy (Dennis) Daniel, Margie (David) Burt, Mary Ellen (Allen) Bridges, Gina (Brett) Meyen, and Anthony (Kim) Faust; grandchildren: Jeremy (Julie) Burt, Joseph (Chrissy) Bridges, Rachel (CJ) Weaver, Captain Charles W. Meyen (USAF), Jolie (Jared) May, and Cole Faust; and great-grandchildren: Joie Burt, Nora Lou Weaver, JT Weaver, and Isabelle Bridges.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to caregivers, Ciara Christopher and Lyanne Mathews, who lovingly cared for our mother. Also, a special thanks to Joseph and Chrissy Bridges and Michael and Kelly Mathews for preparing and delivering delicious meals to our parents over the past year.
