Joyce Myers Comolli , age 90, of Elberton, GA, passed away onSaturday, August 12, 2017, at the Elbert Memorial Hospital.A native of Hart County, Mrs. Comolli was the daughter of the late William Pearson Myers and Gertrude Jones Myers.She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Comolli, brother Thomas E. Myers, and sister-in-law Elma Giannoni Myers. Mrs. Comolli was a 1943 honor graduate of Hart County High School.She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Georgia where she was Corresponding Secretary of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and member of the Home Economics Club, Glee Club, Art League, and Education Club. After graduation, she was employed by the Georgia Power Company as the Home Economist for the Hartwell District. After marrying Louis Comolli, she was a member of the Elberton First United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Stewards, Altar Committee, Building Committee, charter member of the Library, first President of the Friendship Club, and nursery teacher for 24 years.Civic and community work included Elberton Civic Center Board for 30 years, charter member of the Elberton Civic League, several officer positions in the Camelia Garden Club, Life Enrichment Board, Historical Society Board, Art Council, Pastime Players, Elberton Elks Club, Chairman of the Samuel Elbert Academy Library Committee, National Guard Armory Restoration Board, First Baptist Senior Adult Ministry (SAM), Teenage Hangout Board (TAHO), Stilwell School PTA Secretary, and Cub Scouts den mother. Mrs. Comolli enjoyed keeping her grandchildren, church/community service, drawing commercial & house plans, traveling, playing bridge, designing and making her own clothes, drawing/painting, gardening, flower arranging and crafts. Survivors include two sons William Louis Comolli (Delores) and Charles Myers Comolli (Patricia) and one daughter Lisa Comolli Bargstedt (Robby), all of Elberton.Other survivors include five grandchildren: Katrina and Kathryn Comolli, and Holly, Cana, and Moriah Mills;eight step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many step-great grandchildren, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Bill Clements, Bob Lee, Shane Massey, Nicholas Massey, Jim McDonald, and Britt Myers.Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Manning Co-Ed Sunday School Class. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Elberton First United Methodist Church in the Cross and Flame Building, at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Gary Purvis and The Reverend Jim McCollough officiating. Burial followed in the Forest Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elberton First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Elbert Memorial Hospital, or any charity of choice. Hicks Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Joyce Myers Comolli.
