Joyce Franklin Young

Mrs. Joyce Franklin Young, 88, of Rhodes Dr. Elberton passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Mrs. Young was born November 19, 1932 in Elberton, GA to John Floyd Franklin and Eula Bell Dickerson Franklin. She was a member of Elberton Church of God and was a retired seamstress in the textile industry.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: David and Debbie Young of Hartwell, GA, Dennis and Kay Young of Elberton, GA, daughter and son-in-law: Teresa and Bruce Thornton of Stockbridge, GA, grandchildren: Bryan (Maria) Thornton, Stephanie Wolfsohn, Paul (Claire) Young, Bridget (Joseph) Hilliard, Blake (Ashley) Young and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Jody" Jackson Young, infant sister Catherine Franklin, granddaughter Kelly Thornton Butler (Dustin) and a great-grandson Braylon Butler.

Due to Covid-19 there will be no formal visitation and a private graveside service to celebrate Joyce's life at Elmhurst Cemetery.

Joyce will lie in state at Berry Funeral Home on Monday, December 7 from 10AM to 5PM for those who wish to sign her register book and say goodbye.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested please make memorials in Joyce's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to Gideons International, P.O. Box 97251 Washington, DC 20090-7251.
