June Richardson Howell

Mrs. June Eleanor Richardson Howell, 87, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. Mrs. Howell was a native of Elberton, daughter of the late Inman and Ella Greenway Richardson.She was the beloved wife of Mr. Thomas Walton Howell, with whom she had celebrated 68 years of marriage together.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howell was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Richardson, and two sisters, Mary Helen Hooper and Martha Moore.Mrs. Howell retired from the City of Elberton in 1995 after 35 years of service.She was a faithful member of Rock Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. Howell is survived by her husband, Thomas Walton Howell; two daughters: Sherri H. Caldwell and husband, Donnie, and Phyllis H. Thompson and husband, Mike, all of Elberton; and her precious grandchildren: Jessica Wallis (Ja) of Elberton, Zack Caldwell (Melissa) of Cuthbert, Nick Thompson of Elberton, and Ben Thompson (Keri) of Bowman.She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and three very special friends: Bessie Sanders, Nita Brown, and Sue Matthews. A service to celebrate Mrs. Howell’s life was held at Rock Branch Baptist Church on Friday, November 20th at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating. A time of visitation began at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service.Interment followed in Elmhurst Cemetery with Ja Wallis, Ben Thompson, Zack Caldwell, Adam Caldwell, Jimmy Hooper, Jackson Wallis, and Bobby Howell serving as pallbearers. Flowers were graciously accepted, in honor of Mrs. Howell’s love of beautiful flowers. Arrangements for Mrs. June Howell were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
