Karen Lynn Moorhead

Mrs. Karen Lynn Moorhead, 58, of Education Dr. Asheville, NC passed away suddenly Friday, February 7th, 2020 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Moorhead was born March 10, 1961 in Elberton, GA to Jimmy Moorhead and Joanne Craft Lewis. She was a graduate from Elbert County High School and The University of GA. She was a 5th Grade Teacher in Buncombe and Durham and had previously taught in Elbert County.

She is survived by son and his fiancé Phillip Bell and Marlin Garcia of Elberton, GA, son and daughter-in-law: Drew and Carrie Bell of Elberton, GA; her mother Joanne Craft Lewis of Elberton, GA; brother: Todd Moorhead of Hartwell, GA; grandchildren: Jacob and Jonathon Bell; nephews: Jace Moorhead of Hartwell, GA, Darren Driver of Elberton, GA; niece: Ashley Driver of Elberton, GA; her beloved pet Sally, her former husband Marty Bell and many friends of Enka Intermediate School.

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her step-father: Marion L. Lewis, step-mom: Pat Moorhead and a brother Tim Moorhead.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 3PM, Monday, February 10th at New Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Paul Craft, Dean Bryson, Jesse Huff, Robert Huff, Darren Driver and Jace Moorhead serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 9th from 3PM to 5PM at Berry Funeral Home and at other times the home of her mother, Joanne Lewis at 87 Carey St. Elberton, GA.

Flowers are optional and memorials can be made in her memory to New Bethel United Methodist Church.
