Mrs. Kathy Hazel Griffith Hakes, 63, of N. Fairview Road, Lavonia, wife of 26 years to Duane Edmund Hakes, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. Hakes was born in Monroe on July 10, 1956, daughter of the late William Hoyt Griffith and Mary France Aaron Griffith. She was a school bus driver having retired from Franklin County Schools and, along with her husband, was co-owner of The Wood Shed.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her daughter, Jillian Maria Smith of Buford; step-son, Aaron and Sandy Naber of Green Bay, WI; siblings: Andy and Harriett Griffith of Covington, Sue and Walter Chancey of Nicholson, and Pam and Dave Bradshaw of Bogart; grandchildren: Eric Day and Olivia Smith, both of Buford and Phillip Naber of Green Bay, WI: siblings-in-law: Ronald Hakes, Jr. and Pat Evans of Sobieski, WI, Kenneth Hakes and Kathy Berlin of Stanley, WI, Mary Jane and Herbert Eichelt of Stanley, WI, Darlene and Richard Selzer of Stanley, WI, and Debbie and Dwayne Kesting of Chippewa Falls, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Cecilia Dawn Day; grandson, SSgt. Adam Naber, USAF; siblings: Shelby Sims, Hilda Brewer, Nell Harvey, and Markerson Griffith; parents-in-law, Ronald, Sr. and Mary Margaret Hakes; and siblings-in-law: Mell Hakes and Jeanette Ziwiski.
