Katie Lester Arnold

Katie Lester Arnold, age 85, died January 9, 2011, at her residence in Sandy Springs, Ga. She was born and raised in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. She graduated from high school at age 17, and came to Atlanta to go to school and to work. She joined Druid Hills Baptist Church, and met and married Charles Edward Arnold there. They were married 51 years. He died in 1999. They have three children, Lloyd Arnold, Lorraine Arnold Ast, and Roy Arnold, and four grandchildren, David Carl, Jonathan Ast, Jesse Arnold, and Melissa Arnold Burgess. During their young married years, Charles and Katie Arnold joined Providence Baptist Church, which became First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs. Katie Arnold was saved at age 31, and called by the Lord to teach the Bible. She taught the Mary Sunday school class in First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs for 37 years, and taught other Bible classes also. Her funeral will be held at the Hicks Funeral Home Chapel in Elberton, Georgia, at 1pm on Saturday, January 15, 2011, with Pastor Chuck Tatum leading the service, and burial in the family cemetery.
