Mr. Kyle Winn Branan, 75, of Elberton, died peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2024, at his residence with his wife of 52 years, Shirley Marie Dubose Branan, at his side.
Kyle was born in Royston on June 2, 1949, joining his parents Ralph Dayton Branan and Martha Louise Winn Branan, and older brother Hal Dayton Branan, all of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1967 honor graduate of Franklin County High School and served as state vice president of Future Farmers of America. Continuing his education at the University of Georgia, Mr. Branan earned a BS degree in poultry science in 1971. While at UGA, Kyle served as president of AG Hill Council and editor of Georgia Agriculturist; and was a member of Gridiron and Blue Key.
Kyle worked most of his career in sales, and served as manager of Harbin Lumber Company and Adams Building Supply, and as a salesman for Everlasting Granite Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton where he served as a past deacon, as a member of the building committee, and as a member of the ramp ministry. Mr. Branan was former president of Royston Chamber of Commerce, former president of Elberton Rotary Club, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elberton Federal Savings and Loan. During his downtime, Kyle enjoyed golfing at the Elberton County Club and could often be found in his woodworking shop.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Marie, are his children: Kyle Jep Branan and his wife Trisha of Jefferson and Leah Marie Seymour and her husband Chase of Lawrenceville; and grandchildren: Ethan and Harper Branan, and Rayna, Weston, Hudson, Maddie, and Landon Seymour, all of whom lovingly referred to him as "Pop".
A time of visitation celebrating Kyle’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 18, from 6:30p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. At other hours the family will be at the home. Kyle was adamant that he did not want a formal service, and the family is honoring his request. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery during a private family ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Elberton Ramp Ministry, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, GA 30635.
