Lanell Maxwell Blackmon

LaNell Maxwell Blackmon, 95, of Myrtle Street, Elberton, wife of the late Robert C. Blackmon, Sr., passed away Friday, October 26, 2012, at her son's residence in Gainesville. Mrs. Blackmon was born in Elbert County, October 9, 1917, to the late Roy and Estell Fortson Blackmon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Elberton First Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Robert C. "Bob" Blackmon, Jr. of Gainesville and William Roy Blackmon of Statesboro; sisters, Laura Brown of Elberton and Ann Vaughn of Dewy Rose; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Jo McLanahan and Frank Maxwell. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Sunday, November 4, in the Elberton First Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Vaughn and Reverend Gary Purvis officiating. Inurnment will follow in Doves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested please make memorials in her honor to Elberton First Baptist Church Youth Fund. 132 Heard Street, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
