Larry Gene Scoggins

Mr. Larry Gene Scoggins, 65, of Canon, formerly of Elberton, husband of 31 years to the late Beverly Elaine Wilder Scoggins, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia.

Mr. Scoggins was born in Elbert County on April 24, 1951, to the late Robert Toombs Scoggins and Katie Elizabeth Wilder Scoggins Partain. He was a stone cutter having retired from Hayes Memorials.

Left to cherish his memories are his children: Michelle Gunter of Locust Grove, Kristie Callaway of Washington, Kevin Scoggins of Hartwell, and Robert Scoggins of Canon; siblings: Dicie Rogers of Bowman, Victor Scoggins of Bowman, and Greg Scoggins of Jacksonville, FL; step-siblings: Skipper Partain, Johnny Partain, PeeWee Partain, and Melvine Martin; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Scoggins.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, June 12, at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Saturday evening.
