Larry Stephen King, age 78 of Dunwoody, GA, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 4, 2023, with his precious daughters and his loving wife beside him.
Larry was born, April 4, 1945 in Elberton, Ga to the late Mazelle Guest and James Timothy King.
Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lisa; daughters Blair Gulley ( Carl ) of Waco, Texas, and Emily Williams (Bruce) of Atlanta; seven grandchildren , Annalea, Jackson, Mary Kate and Mackenzie Gulley, and Campbell, Sutton, and Liam Williams; and his sister, Connie King of Anderson, SC.
Larry graduated from his beloved University of Georgia in 1968. After college he served as specialist in the United States Army for two years. After returning to the states, he began his accounting career with Touche Ross. He worked with numbers his entire career, culminating at L.S. King and Associates. In recent years Larry enjoyed working with the Ellijay Telephone Company and loved his time in Ellijay. Larry served as a deacon at Dunwoody Baptist Church. He also taught Sunday school and was active in the Youth Program and a sponsor of the Youth Choir. Larry and Lisa cherished the memories of their many choir tours and youth camp trips in the summers. But, by far, Larry’s main joy in life, besides his glamorous wife, was his seven grandchildren. You could see him at their sports games, dance recitals, graduations, school programs, vacations, and just eating with them on a Friday night whether in Georgia or Texas.
Larry loved his Lord and his family. He enjoyed meeting people and was a long standing mentor and faithful friend. His kindness and gentle manner will always be remembered. If you had Larry King as a friend, you were blessed with the best. We will miss him every day, but know that he is eating biscuits and gravy with Jesus, talking with loved ones, and brightening Heaven with his smile.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9, from 1:00-2:00pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00p.m., all at Dunwood Baptist Church, 1445 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA.
We love you, Big Daddy.
