ELBERTON, GA – Annie ‘Laura’ Hyde Wansley, 86, formerly of Huntsville, AL and Petersburg Towers, wife of the late Paul Vernon Wansley, entered into rest on Friday, November 7, 2014, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center, following several years of declining health. Mrs. Wansley was born in Greenwood, SC on June 15, 1928, to the late James Jefferson and Minnie Lou Jones Hyde. A graduate of Elberton High School, she was formerly employed by Mann’s Pharmacy and Harper Motor Lines. “LaLa”, as she was known to her family, was a Brownie Scout Leader and a homemaker. Laura was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, the Iris Garden Club, and the Elberton Elks Lodge #1100 Ladies Auxiliary. She was the mother of four daughters: the late Karen Laura Wansley, Patti W. McLanahan and her husband Zack of Elberton, Bonnie W. Hutto of Elberton, and Jane W. Hofman and her husband Mark of Augusta. Mrs. Wansley is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses: Paul and Eva McLanahan of Durham, NC, Kevin McLanahan of Boulder, CO, Heather and Jarrod Gunn of Durham, NC, Justin and Summer O’Tyson of Pinellas Park, FL, Annie O’Tyson of Augusta, GA, and Curtis O’Tyson of Augusta, GA; two step-grandchildren: Patrick Hofman and Lauren Hofman; four great-grandchildren: Anna Grace Beckett, Lillie Marie Beckett, Amber LuAnn O'Tyson, Gavin Stewart McLanahan, and Dylan Zack McLanahan; two step-great-grandchildren: Autumn Purvis and Trenton Purvis; sister, Marie H. Dixon and her husband Doug of Hoschton, GA; brother-in-law, Mitchell Wansley and his wife Camilla of Elberton; sister-in-law, Doris Hyde Wheeler and her husband Jack of Elberton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter, she is preceded in death by siblings: Marion Hyde, Earl Hyde, and William Hyde. Graveside services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, November 9, at 2:15p.m. in the Wansley Family Lot of Forest Hills Memorial Park with Mr. Tommy Fields officiating. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
