Lavera Anderson Balchin

Mrs. Lavera Anderson Balchin, 99, of Balchin Rd., Elberton, GA wife of the late Jessie Ernest "Jake" Balchin passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Spring Valley Nursing Home.

Mrs. Balchin was born February 11, 1922 in Elberton, GA to Walton Lester Anderson and Macy Viola Burton Anderson. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and was retired from the textile industry.

She is survived by her daughters-and sons-in-law: Phyllis Balchin Kimsey and Wayne Kimsey of Elberton, GA, Joyce Balchin Webb and Floyd Webb of Anderson, SC, Reba Balchin Moon and Gerald Moon of Elberton, GA; siblings: Pauline “Polly” VanBuskirk of Tampa, FL, Fred Pete Anderson of Iva, SC, Major Billy “Buster” Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO, Ann Anderson Brown of Hartwell, GA; twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Jessie Ernest “Jake” Balchin, son: Roger Balchin; siblings: Alfred Anderson, Oscar Anderson, Jack Anderson, Betty Aldrich, Gene Anderson and Andy Anderson.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 2PM, Wednesday August 25 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. John Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Coldwater United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of Gerald and Reba Moon, 1364 Balchin Rd. and will receive friends from 12:30PM to 2PM Wednesday just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.

Flowers are optional and memorials can be made in her memory to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 1025 Welcome Church Rd. Elberton, GA 30635.
