Mrs. Lavinia Harper McGarity, 81, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Memory Gardens in Clemson, SC. Mrs. McGarity was born August 28, 1936 in Rock Hill, SC and was a daughter of the late Charles L. Harper and Lettie Greene Harper.She was a graduate of York High School and attended Lander College.Mrs. McGarity was retired as a librarian for Oconee County.She was of the Episcopalian faith.In the early years of her marriage she served as a “pink lady” and she enjoyed playing bridge. She is survived by three children, Thomas Glenn McGarity, III (Cathi) of Elberton, GA, Laura McGarity Sanders (Mike) of Batesville, MS and Susan Farish (Cameron) of Central, SC; five grandchildren, Lacey and Molly Sanders, Lauren McGarity, and Brooks and Sydney Farish; one brother, Framp Harper (Daisy) of Lake Wylie, SC; and one sister, Lettie Knight of York, SC.Mrs. McGarity was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Glenn McGarity, Jr. Memorials may be made to Pickens County Meals on Wheels, 349 Edgemont Ave., Liberty, SC 29657.
