Lee Welch Jones

Mrs. Lee Welch Jones, 86, of Elberton, wife of the late Mack Jones, Jr., passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016, at Winterville Retirement Center where she had resided for the past three years.

Mrs. Jones was born in Elbert County on April 4, 1930, to the late James Paten Welch and the late Elmyra Rebecca "Myreba" Bullard Welch. She was a graduate of Elbert County High School and retired from Pinnacle Bank where she worked in many capacities. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton and as an avid gardener.

The last surviving member of her family, she is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and slblings: Margaret Welch Fortson and James Clark "Yank" Welch.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Dorothy Welch of Elberton; and nieces and nephew: Pam Mathews of Crawford, Pat Bishop of Smyrna, Jim Welch of Elberton, Janet Atkinson of Snellville, and Myra Willis of Lawrenceville. A host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, August 1, at 2 o'clock from the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memorial Park.

The family is at their respective homes and will recieve friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1:00-1:45p.m. on Monday prior to the service.
