Lenolia Rice Harvell

Mrs. Lenolia Rice Harvell, 93, longtime resident of the Ruckersville Community in Elbert County, wife of the late George Dupree Harvell, Sr., passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Hartwell Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Harvell was born in Elberton on November 19, 1926, daughter of the late Claude Elmer Rice and Zelma Ray Rice. She worked as a cafeteria lady at Centerville, Rock Branch, and Beaverdam Elementary Schools, and also worked in the Ingles Bakery and as co-owner of Favorite Fantasy Bakery. Mrs. Harvell was an active member of Vans Creek Baptist Church, Elbert County Historical Society, and the Elberton VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children: George D. Harvell, Jr. of Elberton, Camelia and Terrell Owens of Hartwell, and Ethell Harvell of Dewy Rose; siblings: H.T. Rice of Royston, Ben Rice of Bowman, and Letha Dickerson of Bowman; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Jerry Lester; and siblings: Evelyn Burney, James Rice, Eloise Gaines, and Baldoski Rice.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, January 12, at 3 o’clock at Vans Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Mize and Rev. Jim Olds officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
