Mr. Leonard Charles Hodges, 59, of Elberton, GA passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Emory University Hospital in Decatur, GA surrounded by his sister and compassionate staff.
Mr. Hodges was born on March 25, 1958, in Elberton, GA, son of the late Tom C. Hodges, Sr. and Juanita Griffin Hodges. He was a former correctional officer.
He is survived by his sister, Nita Marie Hodges of Elberton.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Tom Curtis Hodges, Jr.
Len enjoyed anything musical and played a variety of musical instruments. Free time was spent outdoors planting flowers, spending time with family pets, and just being outside in God's creation. It didn't matter if it was working with the garden or "piddling" with his favorite tractor.
He would encourage all of the people he knew to look around, see and enjoy the beauty of God's creation around us. It could be blooming little flowers or the rustling breeze. Don't take any of it for granted!
Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 6, at 2 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Rafael Castaño officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at 2 o'clock in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter, GA.
The family is at the home of Nita Marie Hodges, 2029 Calhoun Falls Highway, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock on Monday evening.
Contributions may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church of Elberton Organ Fund, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, GA 30635 or to Kairos Outside of North Georgia Prison Ministry, PO Box 407, Centerville, GA 31028.
