Leonard Shirley Moon

Leonard Shirley Moon, 78, of Hartwell, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Hartwell Heathcare Center. Mr. Moon was born in Elbert County, January 27, 1935, to the late George Elmer Moon and Mary Ella Burden Moon. He was a retired stone cutter, U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Steve Moon of Canon, Mike Moon of Hartwell, Lynn and Renee Moon of Elberton, and Susan and Wayne Cobb of Hartwell; seven grandchildren, Keith Moon, Cane Moon, Cason Moon, Jessie Moon Pless, Tyler Moon, Austin Cobb, Jennifer Cobb; two great-grandchildren, Landon Pless and Lucas Pless; sisters, Barbara Carroll of Florida and Charlotte Lunsford of Canon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Darlina Black. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 3:00PM Wednesday, February 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Johnson and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The Moon family will be at the home of Lynn and Renee Moon 1230 Flagstone Road and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00PM Wednesday.
