Lillie Marie Coogler

Miss Lillie Marie Coogler, 80, of Elberton, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at her home.A native of Elberton, she was the daughter of the late John Bunyon and Inez Johnson Coogler.Miss Coogler retired from the Southeastern Power Company, where she had worked as an accountant.She was a very faithful member of Elberton First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and spent many hours volunteering her time to work in the office.It was said of Marie that she “lived her life to serve and take care of others.” In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her sisters, Evie Lee Coogler and Ruth Martin “Marty” Coogler Spires and husband Hubert Hampton Spires, brother, John B. Coogler, his wife Jackie Wall Coogler and nephew, John Michael Coogler. Survivors include niece Linda Spires Isakson and her son, Corey Childs and niece Vicki Coogler Evans. There will be a drive-in graveside service Thursday, May 7th at 2:00pm in the Elmhurst Cemetery, with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating.
