Linda Jane Gunter Mathews

Mrs. Linda Jane Gunter Mathews, 77, of North Eades Rd. Carlton, GA passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Mathews was born January 24, 1946 in Oglethorpe County, GA to William Sanders Gunter, Sr. and Mary Jane Smith Gunter. She was a member of Millstone Baptist Church. In early years she worked as a seamstress and accountant however her joy was being a homemaker for her family.

She is survived by her sons: James Patrick Mathews and William Christopher Mathews both of Carlton, GA; sisters: Carolyn McIntosh of Elberton, Virginia Bowden of TN and Doris Winn of Athens.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Franklin Mathews and brothers: William Sanders Gunter, Jr. and Randall Gunter.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 2PM, Tuesday, October 31 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. David Burt officiating. Interment will follow in Carlton City Cemetery with Matt King, Cody King, Steve King, Bryson King, Steve Winn and Bill Simmons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1PM to 2PM just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.
