Linda Ford Murphy, formerly of Elberton, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023- four days following her 83rd birthday.
Linda was born in Elberton to the late John Wilbur Cleveland and Minnie Mae Lovelace Cleveland. A top graduate of the 1958 class of Elbert County High School, Linda could often be found with her nose in a book or a pen in her hand. She will be remembered for her sweet spirit, loving nature, and her fierce fight towards the end.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin E. Murphy.
She is survived by her loving sons, Vic Ford (Lisa) of Cartersville, Van Ford (Christine) of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Adam Ford of Winder. She was a devoted Nana to her seven grandchildren, Kelsey Hallman (John), Brennon Mayton (Kaitlyn), Michelle Mayton, Kyle Ford, Justin Ford, Nicole Ford, and Kayla Ford; and to her two great grandchildren, Logan James Hallman and Dansby Otto Mayton. Linda was a maternal presence to her two younger sisters, Judy Todd (George) of Seneca, South Carolina and Suzanne Jarvis (Jerry) of Anderson, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 6, 2023 in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
