Linda Pless Willoughby Smoke, 65, of Iva, SC, returned home to her Heavenly Father on May 5, 2020.
A Registered Nurse for 43 years, Linda devoted her life to the art and science of medicine and caretaking. She was an oncology nurse at AnMed Hospital and spent much of her career as a charge nurse and director of nursing for residents in senior and assisted living facilities. Linda enjoyed travel, especially to the beach, and was a voracious reader.
Born in Elberton, GA, on September 19, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Norman Coy Pless and Jessie Mae Helen Elizabeth Taylor Pless. She was a member of Lowndesville Baptist Church.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Smoke, a veteran of the United States Navy.
She is survived by her son: Steve Willoughby (Jamie) of Antreville; daughter Nikki Powell (Jason) of Williamston; daughter Robyn Willoughby of the home; grandchildren Trent Wilson (Rachael Zahn), Ashleah Willoughby (Vance Ashley), AnnaBelle Willoughby, and Adalyn Willoughby; and great-grandson Hayes Wilson. She is also survived by brothers Grady Pless (Kate) of Elberton, GA; Jerry Pless (Judy) of Abbeville; Wayne Pless (Pat Beauford) of Calhoun Falls; and Ronnie Pless of Calhoun Falls, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings: Lois Phillips, James Pless, Frances “Ollie” Harris, Betty Jo Smith, Bonnie Sue Rodriguez, and Shirley Hill.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private services will be held.
Friends are welcome visit the Sosebee Mortuary Iva Chapel, Saturday May 9, 2020 from 10am to 2pm, where Linda will be available for friends to pay their respects.
