Loretta Young Charping, 75, of Lowndesville, wife of Joe Charping, died Sunday, September 6, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Elberton, GA to the late Elbert and Ellen Prince Young.
Mrs. Charping attended Abbeville High School and was employed with the Rocky River Plant for several years. Her favorite pastimes were shopping and decorating her home. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Mrs. Charping’s love for her family was evident. She worshiped at Lowndesville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Charping was preceded in death by a son, Greg Charping and an infant daughter, Shelby Ann Charping.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe, of the home; her daughter, Shelby Charping Dixon (Steven Cox) of Calhoun Falls; her son, Steve Charping (Candy) of Abbeville; a brother, Ronnie Young (Kerri) of Elberton; three sisters, Kathy Dye (Billy), Jeanette Turman, and Annette Seymour (Rodney), all of Elberton; seven grandchildren, Joe Dixon (Madison), Brandon Dixon (Melanie), Riley Dixon (Skyla), Gracee Dixon, Chase Charping (Tabatha), Brandy Hudgins (Ron), and Jake Charping; and her great-grandchildren, Zoey, Bella, Elizabeth, Olivia, Deklan, Cash, Rucker, Alexa, Savannah, and another great-grandson on the way.
Graveside services will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating. Social distancing will be observed and masks are encouraged.
The family is at their respective homes.
