Mrs. Louise Davis, 74, of 1817 Bakers Ferry Road, Elberton, passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Louise is survived by her husband of 55 years, Earle S. Davis, Jr.; a daughter, Julie Weeks (Rick); and two grandchildren, Hannah Katherine Weeks and Ryan Davis Weeks, all of Bishop, Georgia. She is also survived by sisters: Dorothea Gatlin, Florence Cunningham, Diane Graybeal, and Eleanor Holland. She was a long standing member of Elberton First Baptist Church, serving in many capacities. She loved her grandchildren dearly and happily played soccer and basketball with them. After retirement of 30 years from Georgia Department of Corrections, she became a substitute teacher at Elbert County Middle School. She also volunteered at the Elbert County Library. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Dolphus and Musette Singleton Holland; a brother, James Holland; and a sister, Frances Price. A funeral to celebrate Louise’s life will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Elberton with the Reverend Raymond Scott officiating. Visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
