Mrs. Louise Lovinggood Smith, 89, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at her home. A native of Elberton, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late George and Louise Turner Lovinggood.She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. J. A. Smith, Sr.; a brother, Elmer Lovinggood; two sisters, Kathleen Reed and JoNell McIntosh; two sons, J.A. Smith, Jr. and Jimmy Smith; a daughter, Hilda Hammock; and a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Broadwell Smith.Mrs. Smith worked in the textile industry with Dixon-Elberton Mills, and was a member of Fortsonia Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Freida and Buck Moore; her beloved grandchildren: Quinn and Tammy Floyd, Jerrie Floyd, John Smith, Michael Hammock, Lee and Candace Hammock, Melanie and Clif Dye, Julie and Timmy Adams, and Chuck and Crystal Moore; 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.She also leaves behind a brother, Starke Lovinggood and his wife, Joan, of Gainesville; a sister, Martha Anne Moore of Havanna, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Smith’s life was held on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fortsonia Community Cemetery, with Rev. David McConnell officiating. Memorials may be made to the Fortsonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 2616 Washington Hwy., Elberton, GA 30635, or T.J. & Friends Foundation at P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635 Arrangements for Mrs. Louise Lovinggood Smith were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
