Lucy Joy Carter Crowe

Mrs. Lucy Joy Carter Crowe, 88, of Wahatchee Creek Road, Elberton, wife of the late Herschel Robert Crowe, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Crowe was born in Toccoa on December 7, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph L. And Nora Ivester Carter. She was retired from JC Penney Company and a member of Conley First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jean Crowe of Elberton; grandchildren: Kala Crowe and Robert “Cord” Crowe; great-grandchildren: Layla Sanders and Madelyn Nicole Crowe; siblings: Violet Fomby of Griffin, Lois Holbrooks of Warm Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Helen Annette Crowe Welborn; granddaughter, Candice Giannoni Sanders; and siblings: Cleo Rudeseal, Inez Holbrooks, Craig Carter and Lena Powell.

Graveside services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, January 6, at 2 o’clock in the Old Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery with Tom Miller officiating.
