Marco Penn Goodwin

Mr. Marco Penn Goodwin, age 82, of Elberton, passed away at his home Saturday August 2, 2008 following an extended illness. Mr. Goodwin was the son of the late Thurman Hope Goodwin and Odessa Ophelia Erwin, and he was an active member of Northside Baptist Church for 55 years where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was on the U.S.S. Mississippi in the Pacific and performed as a Navy musician while stationed in San Diego, California. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Anna Goodwin Outz, brothers Thurman Hope Goodwin and Albert Goodwin. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Edna Mae Bradford Goodwin, Children, Bob Goodwin of Selma, NC and Hope Goodwin of Elberton, son in law, Joe Outz, grandchildren, David Goodwin of Wilmington, NC, Robert Goodwin of Greenville, NC and Briana Outz of Elberton, GA, brother, Ray Goodwin of Oregon and sister Mary Matthews of Shady Dale, GA. Memorial Services of Mr. Goodwin will be held Monday August 4, 2008 at 7pm at Northside Baptist Church, Elberton, GA.
