Margaret Barton Harvell

Margaret B. Harvell passed away Friday, April 29, 2011. She was born January 3, 1926 in Barwick, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Boyd and Marylou Barton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Harvell, Jr. and her daughter, Lucretia H. Eaton. She is survived by her sister, Maureen Strang; daughter, Lynn Payton and son-in-law, James Payton; son, David Harvell and his partner, Willard Smith; son-in-law, Jerry Eaton; grandchildren, Kimberly (Ricky) McCollum, Melanie (Edward) Herrington, Bryan Payton, Mary Uadan (Billy Newton) and Jason Eaton; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Dennard, Garrett Herrington, Elizabeth Newton and many nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and was also employed by the Elbert County School District for many years. She was a longtime member of Elberton First Baptist Church. Graveside funeral services celebrating her life will be held Saturday April 30, at 2PM at Elmhurst Cemetery with John “Richie” Eckler officiating. The family has requested please in lieu of flowers to make memorials in her honor to the Elberton First Baptist Church Preservation of the Old Sanctuary.
