Mrs. Margaret Martin Burroughs, 87, of Carlton, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Athens. Mrs. Burroughs was born in Comer, Georgia, daughter of the late Ruth Lord andWilborn PinkneyMartin, Jr.She was the widow of James Freeman Burroughs.Mrs. Burroughs was a retired high school English teacher, having taught students in Morgan, Elbert, and Madison Counties. Mrs. Burroughs is survived by her children: Margaret Ann Burroughs of Carlton, Steven Freeman and his wife, Kelly, of Conway, Arkansas, and Janet Allene Burroughs of Comer.She also leaves behind two grandchildren: James Steven Burroughs and his wife, Jennifer Elizabeth, and Lauren Burroughs Castleberry and her husband, Daniel Tyler, all of Greenbrier, Arkansas;and one great-grandchild. A service to celebrate Mrs. Burroughs’ life was held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Carlton Baptist Church.A time of visitation was on Friday evening, April 3, 2015from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton.Interment followed in Carlton City Cemetery.
