Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Smith Nash, 94, of Elberton, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, January 24, 2015. Mrs. Nash was born in Elbert County on October 7, 1920 to the late John Duncan and Lizzie Thornton Smith.Margaret was married to the late Haywood Nash. She worked as a weaver at Elberton Mills until her retirement, and was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. Margaret is survived by her sister, Julia Dixon of Elberton, and two sisters-in-law: Sara Frances Smith and Mildred Smith Bailey. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Childs Starke,and two brothers:James Smith and George Duncan Smith. Funeral services for Mrs. Nash were held on Monday, January 26, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with the Reverends Dwight Morgan and Wade Dotson officiating. Interment followed at Forest Hills Memorial Park. A time of visitation for family and friends was Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Donations may be made to Falling Creek Baptist Church, 1020 Jack McVeigh Drive, Elberton, Georgia30635.
