Margaret Clark Whitaker

Mrs. Margaret Evelyn Clark Whitaker, 94, formerly of Elberton, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Elberton, Georgia on August 4, 1920 to the late Ora Francis and Vera Smith Clark.She moved from Elberton in 1943 to Americus, Georgia, and returned in 1947.She resided in Elberton until 1975, at which time she moved to her current residence in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her husband, J. Frank Whitaker;a daughter, Phyllis Ann Whitaker Drury; a sister, Virginia Clark Edwards; and a brother, William Clark. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her daughter, Peggy Lynn Whitaker Pollock, of LaGrange, Kentucky;and three grandchildren:Jamie Elyse Pollock, John Dowling Drury, and Wiley Clark Drury.She also leaves behind a sister, Bobbie Jo Clark Terry, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A Celebration of Life service for both Frank and Margaret Whitaker will be held at a later date, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.hicksfuneral.com.
