Marshall Asbury Bradford

Mr. Marshall Asbury Bradford, 74, of Athens, formerly of Elberton, husband of 32 years to Shawna Lee Prince Bradford, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Bradford was born in Elberton on October 18, 1944, son of the late Bonnie Benjamin Bradford and Cora Eleanor Beasley Bradford. Marshall graduated from Elbert County High School and attended Georgia Tech. He was the retired owner/operator of Victory Granite Company and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was also a member of Philomathea Masonic Lodge and a founding member of the Elbert County Rescue Squad where he served as diving instructor. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed football and baseball, and, in his early years, coached his children’s sporting teams.

Survivors include his wife, Shawna; children: Bonnie Bradford and Scott Robinson of Bogart, Gene and Kim Bradford of Lexington, Shannon and Kelly Bradford of Elberton, Ashley Spears of Charlotte, NC, Shaun and Rachel Fortson of Elberton, and Breana Bradford of Athens; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three nieces.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Marsha Bradford; and brother, Gene Bradford.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 2 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday, March 19.
