Mrs. Martha Louise King Holland of Washington Highway, Elberton, wife of 62 years to the late Robert Lee "R.L." Holland, entered into rest suddenly on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her residence. She had just turned 90 years old.
Mrs. Holland was born in Madison County on December 1, 1933, daughter of the late Cleveland Henry King and Annie Ophelia McCannon King. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton and retired from Autolite as an inspector. Martha operated a cleaning business for many years and took great pride in her work. In younger years, she worked at Nancy Hart Nursing Home where she enjoyed visiting and taking care of the residents. As long as her health permitted, Martha enjoyed doing yard work and was cutting her own grass and trimming her own shrubs until the age of 88. She could grow flowers and nurture plants like none other, and grew an excellent vegetable garden. Above all, MawMaw’s pride and joy was her family, and she loved each of them dearly.
Surviving are two sons and their wives: Ricky and Tammy Holland and Randy and Felicity Holland, all of Elberton; siblings: Chloe Annette Carter of Jenkinsburg and Janice Carol Hannah of Senoia; grandchildren: Kelly and Phillip Edwards, Katie Holland, Brad and Jamie Holland, Reid and Carley Holland, and Sara and Austin Denard; great-grandchildren: Katelynn Ramsey, Benson Holland, Drake Holland, Baker Holland, Colton Holland, Gage Edwards, Malik Ramsey, and Salem Denard; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She also leaves behind her faithful four-legged companion, Dually.
Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Jerry Lewis King, Delree Lanelle Ogles, and Arthur Colin King.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends on Friday, January 19, from 1:00-1:45p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Private interment will follow in Fortsonia Community Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation, PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635.
Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at berryfh.com.
