Marvin E Smith

Mr. Marvin Eugene Smith, 91, of Elberton, GA., passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his home. A native of Elbert County, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Otis Howard and Vera Claire Fortson Smith.He was born on April 13, 1926.He served his country in the U.S. Army and served in WWII. After his service he worked at Milliken Mills for 38 years as an inspector. In addition to his parents Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter Kathy Diane Smith and a brother Lewis Howard Smith. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Kathryn Johnson Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Debra Smith of Iva, SC; and daughter, Andrea Marie Smith of Cleveland, GA; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Smith is also survived by a brother and sister in law Wayne and Maxine Smith of Elberton, GA. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Emily Case officiating. The family received friends at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service.Private interment followed in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
