Mary Thomas Crittendon

Miss Mary Thomas Crittendon, 76, of Elberton, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Magnolia Estates, her residence for the past eight years. 

The only child of the late Thomas Robert Crittendon and Dessie Colvard Crittendon, Mary Thomas was born in Elberton on August 3, 1948. Following graduation from Elberton High School, she attended her beloved University of Georgia where she obtained a Bachelors in Education. Miss Crittendon touched the lives of many of Elberton’s youth during her 36-year tenure as a history teacher at Elbert County Middle School. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Elberton. 

She is survived by a number of cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. 

Funeral services celebrating Mary Thomas’s life will be conducted on Thursday, August 29, at 1:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment, alongside her parents, will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Magnolia Estates, 68 College Avenue, Elberton, GA 30635.
